A Friend in Need is a Friend Indeed
Once, there was a lion living in a forest. One day, after eating a big meal, the lion lay down under a tree to sleep.
While it was sleeping, a little mouse came by and began to run and play on the lion’s body. Suddenly, the lion woke up in anger. It looked around to see who had disturbed its sleep. When it saw the small mouse standing there, shaking with fear, the lion roared and lifted its paw to catch it.
The mouse pleaded, “Please, mighty lion, forgive me! I didn’t mean to wake you up. If you let me go, one day I may be able to help you.”
The lion laughed at the idea but felt sorry for the tiny creature. So it let the mouse go. The mouse quickly ran away.
A few days later, the lion was caught in a hunter’s net. It tried hard to break free but could not. The lion roared for help.
Hearing the roar, the mouse came running. It saw the lion trapped and began to gnaw at the ropes of the net with its sharp teeth. Soon, the net broke and the lion was free again.
The lion thanked the mouse. From that day on, they became good friends and lived happily in the forest.
Moral: A friend in need is a friend indeed.
