The Stranger in the Garden
A man had a big garden. He grew many fruit trees and looked after them every day. After a long time, the trees gave sweet fruits. He wanted to sell them and earn money for his family.
One day, the man was picking fruits with his son. Suddenly, he saw a stranger sitting on a tree and picking fruits.
The man shouted, “Hey! Why are you taking fruits from my tree? That’s not right!”
The stranger didn’t answer. He kept picking the fruits.
The man got angry and said, “I worked hard all year to grow these trees. You can’t take the fruits without asking. Come down!”
The stranger said, “This garden belongs to God. I am God’s servant, so I can take the fruits. You should not stop God’s work.”
The man was surprised but had an idea. He said, “Okay, come down. Let’s talk.”
When the stranger came down, the man tied him to the tree and hit him with a stick.
The stranger cried, “Why are you hitting me? That’s not fair!”
The man said, “This stick is also God’s. I am His servant. Don’t stop me.”
The stranger became quiet and said, “I’m sorry. I should have asked before taking the fruits. Please forgive me.”
The man stopped and said, “Don’t use God’s name to do wrong things.”
Then he untied the stranger and let him go.
