The Monkey and the Dolphin

Long ago, a group of sailors set sail on a long journey. One sailor brought along his pet monkey for company.

After sailing for many days, a big storm hit and their ship sank. Everyone fell into the sea. The monkey struggled to stay afloat, afraid he would drown.

Just then, a kind dolphin came by and helped the monkey climb onto its back. The dolphin swam through the waves and brought the monkey safely to a small island.

When they reached the shore, the dolphin asked, “Do you know this island?”

The monkey, wanting to impress the dolphin, lied and said, “Oh yes! I know it very well. The king of this island is my best friend. Actually, I’m a prince!”

But the dolphin knew no one lived on the island. So he replied, “Really? Then you’ll soon be the king!”

The monkey, surprised, asked, “How can I be the king?”

The dolphin calmly swam away and said, “That’s easy. You’re the only one here, so the crown is all yours!”

Moral: People who lie and brag often end up looking foolish.
