The Jackal and the Drum
Once, in a dense jungle, there lived a hungry jackal named Gomaya. One day, as he roamed around looking for food, he wandered into an old battlefield. The place was silent, with only the rustling of leaves in the wind.
As Gomaya walked near a tree, he suddenly heard a strange “boom-boom” sound. Curious, he followed the noise and found a large drum lying under the tree. Whenever the wind blew, a low branch would hit the drum and make the sound.
The jackal went closer and tapped the drum with his paw. Boom! it sounded again. He became excited and thought, “Maybe there’s a small animal hiding inside. If I can open it, I’ll have something to eat!”
But no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't break open the drum. Then an idea struck him.
He began beating the drum loudly with both paws. The sound echoed across the jungle. Hearing the noise, a hungry leopard nearby came running to see what was happening.
The jackal quickly said, “Oh mighty leopard! There’s an animal hiding inside this drum. You’re strong — maybe you can tear it open and catch your meal.”
The leopard, eager to eat, struck the drum hard with his powerful claws. With a loud crack, the drum broke open.
But there was nothing inside.
Realizing he’d been tricked, the leopard growled in anger. “You made me waste my time for nothing. Now you will be my meal!”
Before the jackal could escape, the leopard pounced on him and ate him.
Moral:
Don’t trick others for your own gain — it may cost you dearly.
