The Cunning Fox and the Clever Stork
Once there was a cunning fox who loved to trick other animals. He spoke kindly to them and gained their trust—then played tricks for fun.
One day, he met a stork and pretended to be her friend. Soon, he invited her to his home for dinner. The stork happily agreed.
When the day came, the fox served soup—but in a wide, shallow bowl. The fox licked it up easily, but the stork couldn’t drink it with her long beak. She just touched the soup with the tip of her bill.
The fox smiled and asked, “Don’t you like the soup?”
The stork politely said, “It’s tasty, but I’m not feeling well and can’t eat much.”
The fox grinned, pretending to feel sorry. The stork thanked him and invited him to dinner at her home.
When the fox visited, the stork served soup in a tall, narrow jar. She drank it easily with her long beak. But the fox couldn’t reach the soup at all.
The stork asked kindly, “Are you enjoying the soup?”
The fox remembered his own trick and felt ashamed. Embarrassed, he said, “I think I have a stomach ache,” and left quickly.
Moral: One bad turn leads to another.
