The Cocoon and the Butterfly

One day, a man saw a small cocoon hanging from a tree. He loved butterflies and was amazed by their colors and beauty. He knew that butterflies come from caterpillars, and he was excited to see one coming out.

The cocoon had a tiny opening. The butterfly inside was trying hard to come out. The man watched it struggle for hours. It twisted, turned, and pushed, but it just couldn't break free.

After watching for a long time, the man felt sorry for the butterfly. He thought, “Maybe I should help it.” So, he carefully took a pair of scissors and cut the cocoon open to make it easier for the butterfly to come out.

The butterfly did come out—but it looked different. Its body was big and swollen, and its wings were small and weak. The man waited for the wings to grow and for the butterfly to fly, but that never happened.

The butterfly just crawled around. It never flew.

What the man didn’t know was this: the butterfly needed that struggle. The hard work of pushing out of the cocoon helps the fluid from its body go into the wings. That’s what makes the wings strong enough to fly.

By skipping the struggle, the butterfly missed the chance to grow properly.

The lesson?
Struggles help us become stronger.
If we avoid every challenge, we may never reach our full potential.

Hard times help us grow.
Without struggle, we can’t fly.
