The Apple Tree and the Farmer

Once upon a time, there was a farmer who lived near a forest. He had a big garden. In the garden, there was an old apple tree and many other plants and flowers.

When the farmer was a little boy, he loved the apple tree. He played under it and ate its sweet apples. The tree made him very happy.

But now the tree was old. It didn’t give apples anymore. So, the farmer thought,
“This tree is useless. I will cut it down and use the wood to make furniture.”

He picked up his axe and started to chop the tree.

Suddenly, many small animals came out of the tree. There were squirrels, birds, insects, and even a grasshopper. They all lived in the tree.

They cried out,
“Please don’t cut the tree! This is our home. We have nowhere else to go.”

But the farmer didn’t listen. He lifted his axe again.

The squirrel said,
“My babies live here. Please don’t destroy our home!”

The birds said,
“This is our nest. Please don’t cut it!”

Still, the farmer didn’t stop. The animals became very sad.

They said,
“If you let the tree stay, we will help you. We will sing songs when you work in the field. We will play with your son and make him smile.”

But the farmer kept chopping.

Then, he saw something shiny. It was a beehive full of honey. He tasted the honey and smiled. It was very sweet. Suddenly, he remembered his happy childhood under the apple tree.

The bee said,
“I will give you honey forever.”

The squirrel said,
“You can take as many nuts as you want.”

The birds said,
“We will sing for you every day.”

Now the farmer understood. He remembered how special the tree was to him as a child.

He dropped the axe and said,
“I’m sorry. I will not cut the tree. You can live here in peace.”

The animals were very happy and thanked the bee. The old apple tree became full of life again, and the farmer’s little boy now played under the same tree — just like his father once did.

Moral:

Every living thing is important. We should protect nature, not destroy it.
