Kid’s True Potential

There was once a young boy in 5th grade who struggled a lot in school. His classmates often made fun of him, thinking he was the slowest in the class. Even he started believing it. His report card always showed low marks, but he would tell his mother, “It’s not a big deal.”

But his mother believed in him. She knew he was capable of much more. So, she made three simple rules for him:

  1. He could only watch two pre-selected TV shows each week.
  2. He had to finish his homework before playing or watching TV.
  3. He had to read two library books every week and write a report on each.

The boy was unhappy with the rules at first and tried to convince his mother to change her mind. But she didn’t. And because he respected his mother, he followed the rules.

Soon, something amazing happened. One day in class, the teacher asked a tough question. The boy was the only one who knew the answer! Everyone was surprised — including the boy himself. He realized that he had learned that answer from one of the books he had read.

That moment changed everything. He understood that he could learn — and that books held the key. He kept reading more and more. His confidence grew. He started doing better in school and eventually became one of the top students.

Years later, that boy who was once called “dumb” became one of the world’s most famous brain surgeons. His name? Dr. Benjamin Carson — a neurosurgeon, author, and political leader.

Moral:
Everyone has the ability to succeed. You just need to believe in yourself and follow a focused, disciplined path.
