Always Stay Alert

Once, there was an old lion who was too weak to hunt for food. He was very hungry and worried he would die without eating. So, he thought and thought until he got a clever idea.

The lion decided to lie down in a cave and pretend to be sick. Whenever animals came to visit him, he would catch and eat them. His plan worked for a while, and many kind animals who came to check on him never returned.

But one day, a smart fox came to visit the lion. The fox stopped at the entrance of the cave. He looked around carefully and noticed something strange. He saw many footprints going into the cave, but none coming out.

The fox became suspicious. So, he stood outside and called,
“How are you, Lion?”

The lion replied,
“I’m very sick. Why don’t you come inside?”

The fox answered,
“I would love to, but I see all the footprints going in and none coming out. That means no one ever leaves your cave. I’d be foolish to walk in!”

Then the fox left and warned all the other animals.

Moral:
Always stay alert and think before you act.

The Merchant and the Donkey

One bright spring morning, a merchant loaded his donkey with heavy sacks of salt and set off for the market. As they walked, they came to a river. The donkey slipped, fell into the water, and quickly climbed out. To its surprise, the load felt much lighter — the salt had dissolved. The merchant went back home and reloaded the donkey with fresh sacks of salt. When they reached the same river, the donkey pretended to slip. Again, the salt was ruined, and the merchant returned home frustrated. Realizing the donkey was playing a trick, the merchant decided to teach it a lesson. This time, he loaded the animal with large sponges. When they reached the river, the donkey “slipped” once more. But instead of feeling lighter, the load grew heavier as the sponges soaked up water. The merchant chuckled and said, “Clever tricks don’t work forever, my friend.”
