A Husband’s True Love for His Wife

Once in a city, there lived a man who was married to a very beautiful woman. Everyone in the city praised her beauty, and this made her feel happy and proud. They loved each other and lived a joyful married life.

But after some years, the wife got a rare skin disease. They visited many doctors, but no one could cure her. Slowly, her skin began to lose its beauty. She became afraid. She thought, “If I don’t look beautiful anymore, maybe my husband won’t love me like before.”

Even though her husband tried to comfort her every day, she stayed sad and started to avoid looking at him. She didn’t want him to see her face.

Then one day, the husband had to travel for work. On his way back, he had a serious accident—and lost both of his eyes.

The wife was heartbroken. But over time, they both adjusted to this new life. She no longer avoided him and stayed by his side, helping him with everything.

Years passed. Her beauty faded completely, but she never looked in the mirror. She continued to care for her husband with love, forgetting her own pain.

One day, the wife passed away. The husband was deeply sad. After the funeral, he decided to leave the city.

Just before leaving, a neighbor said to him, “How will you live alone now? Your wife always helped you. Without her, how will you manage being blind?”

The husband smiled and said, “I’m not blind. I just pretended to be blind. I knew my wife’s heart was broken because of her looks. I didn’t want her to feel worse. If she knew I could still see her and her changed face, it would have hurt her deeply. So I acted blind all these years—to protect her feelings. She was a wonderful wife, and I just wanted her to be happy.”

Moral:
True love is not about appearance. It is about care, respect, and standing by each other in every situation.
