A Father's Love – A Heart-Touching Story

A young boy lived with his father. The two were very close, and the boy loved playing football. Though he rarely got to play in matches, his father always supported him and never missed a game.

Even when the boy sat on the bench the entire time, his father cheered for him from the stands with a big smile.

When he got into high school, he continued playing football. For four years, he worked hard, showed up at every practice, and never missed a game—though he still remained a benchwarmer.

Later, when he joined college, he decided to try out for the football team as a "walk-on." Most people thought he wouldn’t make it, but he impressed the coach with his dedication and spirit. He made it to the team!

Overjoyed, the young man called his father and told him the good news. He even sent him season tickets for all the college games.

Throughout college, he still didn’t get a chance to play in real matches, but he kept training hard and never gave up.

One day, before a big playoff game during his senior year, he received a telegram. His father had passed away.

He quietly went to his coach and said, “Coach, my father died this morning. May I miss today’s practice?”

The coach gently said, “Take the rest of the week off. You don’t have to come back for Saturday’s game either.”

On Saturday, during the game, the team was struggling. In the third quarter, they were ten points behind. Suddenly, the young man showed up at the locker room, dressed and ready to play.

Everyone was surprised.

He walked up to the coach and said, “Coach, please let me play today. I have to play.”

The coach hesitated—after all, this was a crucial game—but something in the boy’s eyes made him agree.

“Alright,” said the coach. “Go in.”

To everyone’s shock, the young man played like never before. He was unstoppable. He ran, blocked, passed, and scored like a true star. His team was winning because of him.

In the last seconds of the game, he ran in the final touchdown. His team won.

After the celebrations ended and the crowd left, the coach found the young man sitting quietly, alone.

The coach smiled and said, “Son, that was amazing! You’ve never played like that before. How did you do it?”

The boy, with tears in his eyes, replied, “Coach, my dad died... but did you know he was blind?”

The coach nodded quietly.

The boy continued, “He came to every game... but today was the first time he could actually see me play. And I wanted to make him proud.”
